What is being built next, and how to get your idea onto the list

This is a plan, not a promise of dates. What it is, though, is honest: everything below is either already in progress or genuinely intended, and most of it arrived because somebody asked for it.

being built now
Batch transcription

Drop an audio or video file on the window and get the text out, using the same models, replacements and prompts as live dictation.

Updates without the models

An update that downloads only what changed, so a new version never re-fetches gigabytes of models you already have.

The manual in every language

The rewritten guide currently exists in two languages; the other six still show the older, shorter text.

next in line
Signed builds, and the Microsoft Store

A code-signing certificate first, so Windows stops warning about an unknown publisher, then the program in the Microsoft Store and in winget — installed and updated from a place Windows already trusts, without downloading anything by hand.

Commands that edit

“Delete that”, “new heading”, “make it a list” — voice commands that change the text instead of only inserting it.

A shortcut per language

One combination for English, another for the language you switch to, without opening the settings.

Learning from corrections

When you fix the same word twice, the program offers to add it as a replacement by itself.

Stop on silence

End the recording when you stop speaking, instead of waiting for the keys to be released.

Profiles per computer

The same folder on a laptop and a desktop, with a different microphone and model on each.

A second window for long dictation

Speak into a proper editor with the plate attached, then send the finished text anywhere.

More narrow models

As good single-language models appear, they go into the catalogue with measured numbers rather than claims.

Sound themes you record yourself

Your own cues for start, finish and cancel.

ask for something

If you need a feature, ask — it gets built

Small things usually appear in the next release. Larger ones get a straight answer about when, or an explanation of why not. Nothing is ignored, and there is no voting queue to climb.

open an issue

The best place for anything with steps, screenshots or a log. It stays public, so other people can add to it and see when it is done.

report a problem

Something broken, wrong or confusing. A version number and the last lines of the log are enough to start; the log is in English and never contains what you dictated.

Report a problem

write directly

If GitHub is not for you, mail works just as well. Replies come from the person who writes the program, usually within a couple of days.

what to put in a request

  1. What you were trying to do, in your own words.
  2. What the program does instead today.
  3. How often it happens — every dictation, or once a week.
  4. Your language and the model you use, if it might matter.

what happens then

  1. You get an answer, not an automated one.
  2. If it is small and clearly right, it lands in the next release.
  3. If it is large, it goes on this page so you can see where it stands.
  4. When it ships, the release notes say who asked for it, if you want them to.

Missing something? Say so.

The list above exists because people wrote in. Yours can be on it by tomorrow.
