History is a list of what you dictated. Text only: the voice is never stored anywhere. It is off by default, deliberately — dictations often carry personal things. Turn it on if you have ever pasted into the wrong window and lost the text, or needed to repeat a long phrase.
The main switch. Turn it off and new entries stop appearing while the old ones are erased.
When an entry disappears by itself. Five minutes is enough if you only want a safety net for the wrong-window case; thirty days is just as valid.
The second limit, by count. Whichever comes first wins: with seven days and fifty entries, the fifty-first pushes out the oldest even though the week is not over.
The exclusion list. Anything dictated into a bank, a password manager or a work chat stays out of the history while the dictation itself works as usual. Programs are picked from the open windows, so you do not hunt for file names.
